After the bombardment of information following Elizabeth II’s death on September 8 and after a river of editorial ink about the skills of the monarchy of Charles III of England, many have wondered what the British monarchy would be like today if Lady Say I were alive. The answer may lie with Turkish photographer Alper Yesiltas. As is apps that age us through intelligence Artificially, Yesiltas has used various AI programs to assess what Princess Diana would have looked like if she were still alive. And the results are surprising.
The image is part of a Yesiltas project called “As if nothing happened” in which it uses image processing and artificial intelligence programs to correct images. photos of famous people who died 10, 20 or 30 years ago and imagine how they are today.
In this project we can see among others Freddy Mercury, Janis Joplin, Jimmy Hendrix, Bruce Lee or Heath Ledger. The images of Yesiltas, a photographer with more than 20 years of experience, are exhibited in galleries around the world and have been published in books and magazines. “As if nothing had happened”, on the other hand, This is an unfinished project and continues to develop.
Yesiltas herself admits she won’t publish a photo until she thinks the results are realistic enough to convince her. And he seems to be a very demanding judge.
The computer program used by Alper Yesiltas is based on a two-part AI algorithm called a generative adversarial network (GAN). The idea was to train the AI to create a picture of a person but years later analyze hundreds of thousands of images of people aged, say, 30 and 70 years, and creates the features he sees in them that are similar to the target’s face. This is how images like Lady Di are obtained.
