The Government of Spain, the Generalitat Valenciana and the City Council of Valencia, in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization, organized the Third World Congress of Smart Travel Destinations, which will be held in Valencia, to coincide with the fact that the city is the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022.
The Congress will feature more than sixty national and international speakers, representing destinations that are already smart travel destinations, as well as destinations that have good practice in innovation, technology, accessibility, sustainability and governance, the five axes that make up the DTI model; who are experts in each of the added subjects.
Among the topics to be discussed at the Congress are the country’s strategy for becoming a smart destination, new technologies applied to tourism, the value of accessibility in destinations, the circular economy in the tourism lifecycle, and how to use data to improve destination management.
In the congress, they will also talk about how destinations face climate change?, the key to sustainable mobility in tourism activities will be analyzed and will explore the fact that sustainability is a brand value in the destination marketing strategy.
Among the speakers we will have international representatives from more than twelve countries, including Portugal, the Netherlands, Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Jordan, the UK, France, Sweden, Finland and Peru.
The DTI model, a pioneer in Spain, has strived since the beginning of more efficient and sustainable management of destinations, increased tourist profitability and greater competitiveness of the Spanish economy, application of technology and innovation to destinations to improve the accessibility of its residents and the quality of life of its neighbours.
‘Call for paper’
The first day of the congress will focus on the scientific section, where articles submitted to the following thematic categories will be presented: collaborative governance, development and resilience; green transition and sustainability in smart destinations; and the arrival of smart technology and purpose.
