Madrid concentrates nearly 65% ​​of foreign investment in Spain

Half of operations consist of reinvestment of companies already established in the country. The rest are acquisitions and new investments.

According to figures from the Foreign Investment Registry (RIE) according to first three quarters of 2022have taken a 64.7% of the total with 14,534 million euros (5.656 million in the first quarter, 5.606 in the second and 3.272 in the third).

Practical half (48%) it has to do with enlargement surgery or reinvestment of foreign companies that are already established in the country. 31% are acquisitions and the remaining 21% are new investments.

The United States is the most invested country this way between January and September, with 4.935 million, including investment in telecommunications. They are followed by the UK (3.329 million) and Australia (1.236 million). Countries like Germany, France, Canada and Austria exceed 500 million.

Madrid is also a star in 30.2% of the workforce in foreign companies nationally. There are more than 12,800 foreign-owned companies throughout the community, of which 77% are based in the capital.
