Owner Freia Mondelez said the business in Russia would be separated from other companies before the end of the year

Mondelez’s actions weren’t enough for SAS and Strawberry – the boycott continued

SAS and Strawberry did not change their position in boycotting Freia owner Mondelez after it was discovered that Mondelez would spin off its business in Russia.

– We have read the press release from Mondelez with great interest, but as we interpret it, nothing has changed from yesterday to today. If Mondelez is removed from the list, we will reconsider, wrote Tonje Sund, communications manager at SAS in a text message to NTB on Friday.

Strawberry holds the same position:

– Our position has not changed after reading the press release from Mondelez, wrote the communications manager at Strawberry Bettina Flatland to NTB.

On Thursday evening, owner Freia Mondelez said that the business in Russia would be separated from the rest of the company at the turn of the year.

Sund stated on Thursday that for SAS it was about Mondelez owners and their role in Russia, which they believe the Ukrainian listing highlights, not individual products or Freia as such.

Freiaklubben is very satisfied with Mondelez’s decision. At the same time, Gøran Nyberg, leader of Freiaklubben, told NTB that he is currently unsure what they will do internally at Freia going forward.

– At Freiaklubben, we don’t know yet what Mondelez has in mind concretely, or how they will do it. But it’s clear that it has accomplished what we said here in Norway, said Nyberg.
