That technology This continues to be an important added value in the development of the retail sector. Proof of this is the recent move by a UK ecommerce retailer ocado.
For the first time, UK clients of this company will receive a 20p reward for scanning and packaging recycling with theirs smart phone. To do this, the retailer has partnered with the companies Polytag and Bower.
In particular, customers can scan a QR code printed on Ocado’s two-liter and four-liter milk bottles, whose prices were recently reduced to £1.45 and £1.20 respectively.

The first 20,000 codes scanned will result in the consumer receiving the aforementioned rewards digital wallet in the Bower app. Codes can only be scanned once, preventing consumers from repeatedly claiming deposits on the same plan.
Additionally, the Bower app uses GPS technology to validate that a consumer is claiming 20p by standing near a registered recycling bin. The QR code on the package also allows brand access real time data on the packaging life cycle.
The ultimate goal of this initiative is show survival by enabling people to receive cash incentives for recycling using their smartphones.
As Bower explains, more than 500,000 users they already use the app and are rewarded not only for their bottles and cans, but also for all barcoded packaging.
