This team was formed by Maria Argüelles, construction supervisor, Alexis Vargasinstrumentation and control technicians, and Ludwig van Bedola, industrial affairs manager. Together they worked on the presented project, which was a possible initiative reduce energy poverty in marginalized communities.

This project seeks to install solar panels in the community providing clean electricity to schools, public lighting, community centers and water pumps. Therefore, this proposal was selected as one of the three best proposals at the global level to advance implementation Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

In the first stage, the project was selected at the national level among 16 initiatives nominated by collaborators from companies from various sectors as a result of “Innovation Accelerator for SDGs for Young Professionals”. This program aims to encourage young leaders, under the age of 35 and who collaborate with companies that are part of the Global Compact, to develop real and comprehensive solutions to advance the SDGs from the private sector.

“Our project provides a solution to address, in parallel, two important challenges in the energy sector through a circular economy approach. On the one hand, it results in strategic use of solar panels throughout their operational life, as well as sustainable waste management at the end. On the other hand, closing the energy gap by providing energy to society Mexico with little or no access to the electricity grid, clean and renewable energy supplies,” he explained Ludwig Bedola.

Second, we move on to installing solar panels in communities with little or no access to electricity and involving host communities to ensure proper use and maintenance of solar panels until the end of their useful life.
