Denmark will not send official delegation to Beijing Winter Olympics

Denmark has decided did not send official entourage to the Winter Olympics in Beijing, because “Human rights situation in China,” Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod said in a statement sent to AFP on Friday.

Concern over crimes against humanity

Denmark thus joins other countries that have taken similar action, such as the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, which are particularly concerned about for “crimes against humanity” carried out by the Chinese authorities against Muslim minorities Uighurs in the Xinjiang region (northwest).

Currently Australia, New Zealand and the UK have joined the United States in the diplomatic boycott of the Winter Olympics in China and now Denmark follow the lead.
