NEW YORK (Dagbladet): On August 5, Heche (53) crashed his car into a house in Los Angeles. He fell into a coma and was declared dead on August 12, but remained artificially alive until August 14 while his organs were donated.

According to police, Heche was under the influence of narcotics when he fell. Now the coroner has come up with his report on the cause of death, some American media reported, among others People Magazine.

Crash

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Examiner stated that Heche died of smoke inhalation and continued burns. He also suffered fractures which contributed to his condition after the collision.

A fire broke out after the collision, and it took time for firefighters to rescue Heche from his car, a Mini Cooper.

Lost four out of five children

Authorities in Los Angeles have also concluded that the death was an accident. Therefore, the police have closed the investigation.

Condolences

Heche first rose to prominence in the soap opera “Another World” in the late 80’s, before becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the late 90’s.

He was constantly seen on magazine covers and in blockbusters where he played opposite actors like Johnny Depp and Harrison Ford.

A number of famous people in Hollywood have sent messages of support and condolences following the accident.

Heche had a romantic relationship with talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres in the late 1990s.

She has a son Homer (20) with ex-husband Coley Laffoon and a son Atlas (13) with ex-husband James Tupper.
