Pilot threatens to crash plane into Walmart store – VG

IN THE CIRCLE: VG has sent a photo of a resident who has now been evacuated from his home as a result of the incident – which, he says, should show the plane in question.

Police in the city of Tupelo in the state of Mississippi first issued the warning after a pilot on Saturday threatened to crash the plane into a Walmart department store. By now the pilot must have landed.

Published:

Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported at 5:30 p.m. that the plane had landed and the pilot was alive.

based on CNN and local online newspapers axio the pilot has been arrested.

The 29-year-old local man should have posted a Facebook message just moments before this, while he was piloting the plane:

“Sorry everyone. I will never hurt anyone. I love my parents and my sister. It’s not their fault. Goodbye.”

In the several thousand comments under the message, people tried to get the man to land the plane.

The police chief in Tupelo, John Quaka, told a news conference that the pilot did not have a pilot’s license, but he had some flying training and worked in refueling, which gave him access to planes at the airport, NTB wrote.

The screenshot was taken at 4.20pm Norwegian time from Flightradar.com and shows the alleged plane.

Negotiated with pilot

The dramatic situation unfolded from 12 o’clock Norwegian time, when a man who police said worked at the local airport, threatened to crash the plane into the local Walmart department store.

– Local, state and federal authorities continue to monitor the dangerous situation, writes Tupelo Police in an update on their Facebook page.

Police are working with Walmart West and Dodges in the city to evacuate stores and get the public out of the area.

At the same time, the police began to negotiate with the pilot directly, writes DeSoto County News.

On hers Facebook page writes police that the plane was probably of the “King Air” type, the same type of aircraft that can be seen circling the area on the website Aviation radar and flight aware.

Police: – The danger zone is bigger than Tupelo

Throughout Saturday, Tupelo residents have been advised to stay away from the area until police give notice otherwise. The city of Tupelo has just under 38,000 residents and is located in the Lee County of the state. Historically, Tupelo is known as the birthplace of the late singer Elvis Presley.

– With the mobility of this type of aircraft, the danger zone is much greater than the Tupelo itself, the police warned in a statement.

A video posted by some on Twitter allegedly shows the plane circling over private homes and businesses. On Flight Aware You can follow the flight pattern of the plane.

Eyewitnesses saw the plane circling

VG has spoken to a Tupelo resident who has been evacuated.

– We’ve seen planes circling above us. “I took the picture right near the regional airport here in Tupelo,” he said.

Eventually the plane disappeared from the area above the original target Walmart.

– We are not sure where he is now, and what his next target will be, residents say.

– Now we just hope this situation will resolve itself, he added.

based on Daily News the aircraft must be owned by Southeast Aviation LLC and is a 9 seater twin engine aircraft.

Governor Tate Reeves urged the public to follow police instructions:

– State law enforcement and emergency managers are monitoring this dangerous situation. All citizens should be alert and aware of updates from the Tupelo Police Department, Reeves said, wrote the Daily News.

Walmart has so far not commented on the incident.
