Police in the city of Tupelo in the state of Mississippi first issued the warning after a pilot on Saturday threatened to crash the plane into a Walmart department store. By now the pilot must have landed.

Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported at 5:30 p.m. that the plane had landed and the pilot was alive.

The 29-year-old local man should have posted a Facebook message just moments before this, while he was piloting the plane:

“Sorry everyone. I will never hurt anyone. I love my parents and my sister. It’s not their fault. Goodbye.”

In the several thousand comments under the message, people tried to get the man to land the plane.

The police chief in Tupelo, John Quaka, told a news conference that the pilot did not have a pilot’s license, but he had some flying training and worked in refueling, which gave him access to planes at the airport, NTB wrote.

Negotiated with pilot

The dramatic situation unfolded from 12 o’clock Norwegian time, when a man who police said worked at the local airport, threatened to crash the plane into the local Walmart department store.
