MANCHESTER (Dagbladet): Erling Braut Haaland and Manchester City meet Liverpool in the Community Shield tonight.

Liverpool took the lead in the 21st minute through Trent Alexander-Arnold. New signing Julian Alvaraz equalized for Manchester in the 71st minute.

Seven minutes from the end, Mohamed Salah sent Liverpool 2-1 up on penalties. Darwin Núñez made the final score 3-1 in extra time.

Haaland started early and had a double chance just over ten minutes before the break. But the Norwegian remained goalless at the King Power Stadium in Leicester – despite another good chance late in the game.

That’s not to say it was a poor debut in a game that meant City. He shows potential in certain situations.

At ITV studios in England, expert Ian Wright shot teammate Haaland during a break. First, he slaughtered the defensive game with a score of 0-1. Then he dealt with a few situations where everything was done for Haaland to get the ball in the back room in the first half.

– I am surprised. They got him (Haaland) to do what he does in this game. But look at Kevin De Bruyne! “I was very surprised that he didn’t get permission in the back room over there,” Wright said on a live broadcast.

The Arsenal legend illustrated it with the situation from half-time, bringing Roy Keane – another expert in the studio – with him.

– It was great to see him in person, Keane said of Haaland.

– The movement. It was only a matter of time – when City found their sharpness.

Haaland was nowhere to be seen in the early minutes. When the TV cameras zoomed in on another City signing, Julian Alvarez, after 28 minutes, the red warning light flashed. He started from the bench.

But Haaland played alone and had two double chances four or five minutes later.

Manager Pep Guardiola made three substitutions in the first half of the second half. The previously mentioned De Bruyne was among those who came out, while Alvarez came in.

He created new tension in a 1-1 draw, but six minutes from the end Liverpool received a penalty after a hand and a VAR check. Mohamed Salah did nothing wrong.

In extra time, Darwin Núñez changed the score to 3-1. Soon after, Haaland had a great chance, but missed.

Wright repeated the criticism after the game: Haaland should have had more of the ball in the first half. But he also noted that the Norwegian abused his chances.

Keane praised the 22-year-old’s movement once again.

Haaland was a big topic of conversation before. But it’s Liverpool night at Leicester.

– There are two teams that are far from the best. But what we did with what we had was brilliant. I really enjoyed the game,” Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp told ITV.

– The most important thing I learned today is that the children are ready. We see Darwin Núñez in a dangerous situation. He made good use of the space and got it done.

City manager Pep Guardiola concluded:

– Congratulations to Liverpool. The first 15-20 minutes are the best. After that we got into our game. In the second half we started well. We were really good against a good team. Even in the first half we created enough to do that.
