No Bafta Award for “Worst Man in the World”

On Sunday night, famous actors from around the world gathered at the Royal Albert Hall in London, as the Bafta award was presented for the 75th time.

The Norwegian film “The World’s Worst Man” was nominated in two categories, but won nothing.

Director Joachim Trier was nominated for best non-English film, while Renate Reinsve was nominated for best female lead.

It’s stealing the prize

It was Joanna Scanlan, for her role in the film “After Love”, who escaped with the award for best female lead, reports AFP.

The best non-English language film is “Drive My Car” by Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

“I’m excited and I don’t understand that I’m standing here considering all the other nominations,” Hamaguchi said as he accepted the award, according to Sky News.

The Bafta, or British Academy Film Awards, are the British version of the Oscars and the awards are given out annually in London.

Very excited

On the way to the awards ceremony, Reinsve was interviewed by reporter Tom Allen at BAFTA’s own red carpet broadcast.

– You could win for “The World’s Worst Man”, but you don’t look so bad? Allen jokes.

– You will be surprised, replied Reinsve.

He made no secret of the fact that he had high hopes.

– I’m so excited. I’m too excited. This is madness. Everyone is very beautiful here, said Reinsve.

The actual awards ceremony took place at 8pm Norwegian time.

Fight in the same category as Lady Gaga

In the class for non-English films, films such as Italian “The Hand of God” and Spanish “Parallel Mothers” were found.

It is nominated in class for films that do not have English:

  • Drive My Car
  • Hand of God
  • Parallel Mother
  • little mom
  • Worst human in the world

Last year, the Danish film “Druk” with the Norwegian title “Another glass” qualified with this award.

Norway’s Renate Reinsve is competing for the best female lead award along with big international stars such as Lady Gaga’s “House of Gucci” and Joanna Scanland’s “After Love”.

Last year, it was American actor Frances McDormand who won this award for her role as Fern in the film «Nomadland».

Oscar nomination

“The World’s Worst Man” has received great international acclaim, and youAt last year’s Cannes Film Festival, Reinsve won the award for best female actress.

“The World’s Worst Man” has also been nominated for Oscars in the categories of best original screenplay and best international film. The Oscars will be held on March 27.
