Norway – It will be the weekend weather

Whether you get sun or rain on the weekends will vary depending on where you are in the country.

It will be best in Eastern Norway with less rainfall and sun. Most of the gray will be in Western Norway with lower rainfall and temperatures, according to state meteorologists.

The sun in Eastern Norway

Eldbjørg Moxnes of the Meteorological Institute told Dagbladet that there would be more rain in the west and less rainfall in Stafjell, as the East was “hidden” behind mountains.

– Could be a disaster

– There will be the most rainfall in the west and not as much in the east. Eastern Norway will have a pretty fun weekend with maybe a little overcast, but plenty of sun and rest, he said.

The sun means daytime temperatures will be around 20 degrees, while at night temperatures will be lower, according to Moxnes.

Decent weekend in the south

– It will be very cold in the mountains to the south so there may be snow on the peaks. But Southern Norway appears to have had a pretty good weekend, but with slightly lower temperatures than the last few days, the meteorologist on duty said.

The wind can also come from the west and blow along the coast in the south.

– If someone goes in a small boat, they should check the wind forecast, there may be periods of strong winds at sea.

Rain and cold

In Western Norway, on the other hand, there will be heavy rains and temperatures will be between 10 and 13 degrees.

– There aren’t many places where the temperature goes above 15 degrees, so it’s going to be a relatively cool weekend in the west, Moxnes said.

He nevertheless pointed out that there would be no heavy rains that could cause trouble, and offered an encouraging message to westerners.

– Looks like next week will be better.

Varies in northern and central Norway

Central Norway will also experience some rain and a cool Saturday.

– It will be coldest on Saturday and slightly better and warmer on Sunday. Temperatures will be between 10 and 12 degrees, Moxnes said.

There will be the most rainfall in Nordland, with the first part of Saturday remaining, before it rains again.

– So further north will have a solar period on Saturday and precipitation on Sunday again. This varied slightly as there was low pressure from the west passing by, state meteorologists said.

Next week

In an email to Dagbladet, Moxnes updated the weather for the coming week:

“Next week is likely to bring more high pressure weather (i.e. dry weather), first in the southern part of the country. Not sure how far high pressure will travel. Temperatures will rise in southern Norway, with only slight temperature change in northern Norway.”

He explained that the “southern part of the country” applies from Trøndelag and south.

– So that also includes drier and warmer weather in Western Norway than roughly next Tuesday, he wrote.
