Norway needs NATO and EU

Many ridiculed messages from American and British intelligence that Russia was ready to attack Ukraine. That invasion will come today and that day from this and that edge. When that doesn’t happen, many are quick to criticize our allies for crafting ridiculous and imprecise messages.

In retrospect, it turns out that intelligence information from America, Britain and NATO is generally very good. Not only was the increase in power on the Russian side precisely monitored, but it also turned out to be of high quality intelligence on the course of events and decisions in the Kremlin. We should be happy about that, despite the fact that war did come and Ukraine struggled and suffered against a superior and cowardly enemy.

Unfortunately, complementary Western intelligence is not enough to stop President Putin from – once again – waging war against his own people.

Political dreamer

There are still political dreamers at home hoping to get Norway out of NATO and the EEA. And who wants us to be less involved with our technologically advanced American friends. The same political circle, with Rødt and SV at the forefront, also opposes EU membership.

The Center Party also runs a dangerous line in this way. Not only have the party, with a staunch European Union, emerged as opponents of a united Europe, but they are also fighting with beaks and claws to avoid that the development of Norwegian wind power in the North Sea is carried out in a way that contributes to solidarity with our neighbors. In SP countries, it seems more important to pursue a polarizing policy at home. “Ordinary people” are contrasted with others (which we don’t quite understand who they are). It was cultivated for the battle between city and country. Political power and billions of dollars spent on reversing regional and judicial reforms.

Seeing the navel

This is a behavior we learned from parties like Rødt and SV. That the ruling party spends time and energy in this way is sad and shows how far in its own navel Sp.

Europe is at war. Meanwhile, Sp’s ruling party continues to push its futile ego project here at home. That’s shameless. This is sad. And hard to believe.
