Prince Harry wants to regain police protection in the UK

Prince Harry has filed a lawsuit in court to benefit from police protection, which he will pay personally, when he travels with his family to the UK, a legal representative said.

Harry, the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan lost their police protection in the UK after deciding to distance themselves from the royal family in 2020. The couple currently live in California with their children Archie and Lilibet.

The prince wanted to return with his children to their home country but “they couldn’t return” because it was too dangerous, Harry’s legal representative said, citing “extremist and neo-Nazi” threats.

In the summer of 2021 “his safety was at stake due to the absence of police protection when he left a charity event,” he continued.

On June 30, after meeting with sick children, his car was chased by paparazzi in London.

The lawsuit, which was launched in September to re-examine the Home Ministry’s decision, could again put the royal family in trouble, which has already had to deal with a scandal caused by Prince Andrew, who was left without his royal honors before the court. threats from civil courts in the United States for the sexual assault of minors.

Enrique’s representative confirmed that “England will always be Prince Enrique’s homeland and a country where he wants his wife and children to be safe,” according to a statement to UK agency PA.

Seven-month-old Lilibet has yet to meet her great-grandmother Elizabeth II or her grandfather, Prince Charles.

Prince Henry’s last visit to his home country was last summer, for the unveiling of a statue in memory of his mother Diana, who died in Paris in 1997 in a car crash after fleeing the paparazzi.

A government spokesman said the personality protection system was “strict and proportionate” and would not give details about the case.
