In his new autobiography “Spare”, Britain’s Prince Harry tells about one of them confrontation with his brother, Prince William in 2019.
Here he claims that his brother allegedly physically assaulted him, which is said to have caused visible injuries to his back.
As well as allegedly calling Harry’s wife, Duchess Meghan, too difficult, rude and insensitive. The Guardian wrote that.
That may be explained by the fact that Meghan feels less enlightened, something that was recently revealed, including in the Netflix documentary “Harry and Meghan”.
The incidents described in the book had caused quite a few people to react.
– Hard to know
TV 2 royal house expert, Ole-Jørgen Schulsrud-Hansen, believes it’s not impossible that this attack happened, but it’s a complicated situation.
– It could happen in a situation with a lot of frustration, as there must have been ahead of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s withdrawal from the British royal family.
– But when they make accusations like that against someone who can’t speak, it’s hard for us to know what to believe.
Throws William under the bus
In January 2020, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan stepped down from their duties in the British Royal House. One reason is the enormous pressure from the British media.
– Criticism directed at the prince couple actually retreated to avoid the press, now they are selling themselves to the media so they can live like before. Then they threw Prince Harry’s brother under the bus, Schulsrud-Hansen said.
Strengthening the royal house
Scholars of the royal house believe the story appearing in Harry’s autobiography will strengthen the royal house, rather than weaken British institutions and relations with it.
– I might think that a lot of what’s going on around the situation with Prince Harry might just strengthen the royal family. Because here he only betrayed the institution in which he was supposed to work, he explained.
Furthermore, Schulsrud-Hansen said that Prince Harry was previously seen as a golden boy by the British, which was forgiven when he took the wrong step. That seems to have changed.
– The British would probably prefer to support Prince William in everything than Prince Harry. That may have changed a bit lately, with this documentary coming out in December, an Oprah interview in 2021, and now this book.
Thinking Harry failed
In the book, Harry claims that William called his wife, Meghan, difficult, rude and insensitive.
– If any man is responsible for making getting into this institution as easy as possible, it’s Prince Harry.
Schulsrud-Hansen, on the other hand, believes that it is actually Prince Harry himself who is responsible for helping him.
– When it appeared in the documentary that Meghan wasn’t even told how to say no to the Queen, I would rather claim it was Prince Harry who failed training than Meghan failed the learning measure, explains Schulsrud-Hansen.
Weakens family relationships
British expert, Erik Mustad, believes that Prince Harry’s relationship with his family has greatly weakened.
– Unfortunately, it looks like this. That Harry was in pain and difficult and thought this was a difficult process with lots of emotion, of course. This is Harry’s version of these episodes and it will be difficult for the monarchy to retaliate here.
In the past, Prince Harry has stated that he wants a father and a brother, but without being part of an institution.
– The British monarchy is an institution of fathers and brothers, so it becomes difficult when she thinks that she only wants a brother and a father, because it is the king and the heir to the throne that are in question.
