A job in the Armed Forces is something more than just a job. The most important task of the Armed Forces is to create security for Norway and security for the population. The Army Training Regiment, with approximately 900 employees and conscripts, was responsible for operating Army camps from Huseby in the south to Kirkenes in the north. This involves the operation and maintenance of, among other things, kitchens, welfare, sports, public health services, shooting ranges and buildings and facilities. In some geographic areas, the Training Regiment provides support to units outside the Army. The department also includes the Allied Training Center (ATS) and the Logistics Battalion. The Allied Training Center was the liaison between Allied and military units, Allied and civilian authorities, landowners and other actors. The logistics battalion takes care of all supplies in the Army.

In the Armed Forces, it is desirable that the workforce should reflect the diversity of the population as much as possible. The Armed Forces uses electronic application processing. Certificates and diplomas must be attached to the application. Higher education completed outside of Norway must be approved by NOKUT and approvals must be documented.
