EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.-President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, received a courtesy call from the British Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Mockbul Ali Obe, with whom he discussed various topics of interest to both countries.

Within the framework of the visit, the British diplomat appreciated the good relations that existed between the two countries, including the signing of the first agreement on Security and Defense, in which the country donated four helicopters to the Dominican Republic with the latest generation of technology.

Mockbul Ali Obe explained that modern aircraft have the ability to travel at the speed of a Formula One car, which he said puts the Dominican Republic at the forefront of security in the region.

The Ambassador congratulated Alfredo Pacheco on the work he carried out from the presidency of the Chamber of Deputies in support of democracy, which he demonstrated strengthened the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He also recalled that Great Britain was the first country to recognize Dominican independence and since then the two countries have maintained close friendly relations which have been beneficial in commercial and geopolitical matters.

He assured that for his country the Dominican Republic is a special country. “Our countries have been friends for a long time and under the current administration we have the challenge of strengthening that friendship.”

The diplomat took the opportunity to coordinate with Pacheco for an inter-parliamentary meeting between legislators from the two countries, following an invitation made by the British parliament to the Dominican Congress.

Meanwhile, Pacheco thanked him for the visit and highlighted the quality of England as a great country which has become an example for other countries.

Legislators remember the many heroes of National Independence who were inspired by the British to wage the struggle for independence.
