Trade in organic products between Norway and the United Kingdom

The UK is no longer a member of the EU, and will become a third country starting January 1, 2021. The transition period after Brexit will end at the turn of the year, and there will be changes to the rules of trade with the United Kingdom.

Regulations for the import of organic products are updated so that regulatory bodies in the UK are recognized for authorizing and controlling organic companies and products. This recognition is valid at the first level until 31.12.2021.

Imports from UK after 1.1.2021

When importing organic products from the UK to Norway, there will be a requirement that shipments of goods from 1.1.2021 must be accompanied by an electronic import certificate (inspection certificate) when using TRACES NT. There is also a requirement that the importer must notify the import of organic consignments at least 24 hours prior to arrival.

Export to UK after 1.1.2021
When exporting organic products from Norway to the UK, there will be a transition period without special additional controls in accordance with organic regulations until 1 July 2021. However, from 1 July 2021 there will be a requirement that such shipments must be accompanied by a certain import certificate (“GB COI”) . ), and systems other than TRACES NT will be used.
