WWE Announce First UK Main Stadium Event In 30 Years In ‘Perfect Venue’

WWE have announced that they will be returning to the UK with their first major event at a stadium this poolside in 30 years.

Wrestling fans from all over the UK will be scrambling for tickets, which are sure to be rewarded like gold dust.

The Principality of Cardiff Wales Stadium has been chosen as the “perfect venue” to stage a show that will be remembered by Britons on Saturday 3 September 2022.

Cardiff’s tourist board released a statement on Tuesday morning to the delight of British wrestling fans.

John Porco, WWE Senior Vice President, Live Events, said: “Princiality Stadium is the perfect venue for a major event, hosting our incredible fans from Wales, across Europe and around the world.

“The weekend will be filled with WWE experiences that we believe will leave lasting memories, on par with SummerSlam at Wembley Stadium in 1992.”

Welsh Finance Minister Vaughan Geting added that it wasn’t just locals who would flock to the event.

He said: “Wales will provide an iconic location for WWE’s return to the UK after 30 years and showcase our country to a global audience of millions, including expanded reach in the US.

“This will be the perfect complement to a great year of sport, entertainment and culture in Wales that will attract people from all over the world to experience what our country has to offer.”

Mark Williams, Principality stadium director, promised fans they would enjoy an “unparalleled event experience”.

He commented on the news: “We are extremely proud that WWE has chosen Principality Stadium to host this grand event, which is testament to the stadium’s reputation as a world class venue.

“The Principality Stadium is uniquely positioned in the heart of downtown, which will undoubtedly offer an unparalleled event experience to WWE fans both inside and outside the stadium and will be of immense benefit to the city of Cardiff in general.

The British may be thrilled by the big WWE event, but in the meantime there is plenty of local talent across the country.

Welsh Labor MP Alex Davies-Jones told the Daily Star: “WWE’s choice of Cardiff to host their first English stadium show in 30 years is very exciting for Wales and the whole of England.

“Like SummerSlam before it, we hope it inspires a new generation of British wrestlers and fans of wrestling.”
