In real life, etiquette and protocol courses for those close to the queen begin at an early age and as soon as anyone can sit at a table with the queen. While in the case of new members such as the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex, they begin as soon as the relationship with the family member is formalized.

You travel separately

Anyone who is heir to the throne of the royal family – regardless of their place in the line of succession – must travel in a separate car. This is because, in the event of an accident or assault, members of the royal family do not bear the same risk when traveling separately.

driver’s license

While it is not common for members of the royal family to drive, all driving licenses in the UK are issued in the name of the current monarch. For this reason, Queen Elizabeth II is the only one in the entire nation that does not require this document to get behind the wheel of any car. In the film we see Diana of Wales driving constantly, which shows one of the many ways in which the princess rebelled against the crown.

Queen’s moments

Another protocol that must be followed and revealed in the film, is the importance of never chasing the queen, because the king must not wait for anyone.

The same thing happens at mealtimes, because nothing can start or finish after it. When the queen puts down the tableware, all her guests must do the same.

And as if that weren’t enough, the queen’s time also applies to bedtime, for no one can rest until she does.

How to Deal with Members of the Royal Family

First of all, it must respectfully and of course, mention the royal title, which each of them befits of. For example, in the case of the queen, whoever greets her must do so by first saying “Your Majesty”.

royal tradition

Although not such a protocol, there are various traditions passed down from generation to generation and hardly anyone dares to question or change them. Such was the case of the classic Christmas scale, which was a tradition instituted by King Edward VII, grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II, and which found it very amusing that all guests at the palace Christmas celebrations weighed themselves upon arrival and departure, with the sole aim of saw their weight gain and thus found out that they had enjoyed the delicious food offered by the royal family.
