Determined to take on the creators of the Call of Duty cheats, Activision Blizzard strengthened its trial on September 19 against German company EngineOwning. New documents filed by the company in California state that the company is extorting players, with the characteristics of a international criminal network.
The company claims that EO members conspired against it to develop tools to cheat in the game and damage Call of Duty’s image. As a gift, Activision requires them to pay both for the damage caused and for all profits derived from the sale of the software (CHEAT).
“This company is a well-coordinated, multi-level marketing engine. Defendants cooperated to continue to sell software licenses for in-game cheating, as well as to recruit retailers,” the Activision indictment said.Vendor and reseller network suedfor sales, distribution, and support of software in front of many clients around the world”.
Activision Claims Hundreds of Thousands of Cheats Sold
Call of Duty developers claim that EO has created a structure with global reach, working with partners in countries like French, Spanish, Dutch, English and German, among others. The entire scheme was run by Valentin Rick, Leon Schlender and Croatle, who were the main targets of his legal action.
In addition to financial compensation, the company must obtain all software developed by the EO, as well as a guarantee that its members will no longer be able to act in the creation of other applications. Developer demands that the defendant be tried by a jury in the United States, who declared all of this to be typical of an international criminal network, as well as disrespect for the creators of Call of Duty.
Activision is not alone in the group of successful game makers who have decided to go to court to combat the cheating problem. Bungieof Destiny 2, has been known for opening several lawsuits against cheaters, something he considers very positive for the maintenance and health of his business.
