ME London, UK’s first hotel signed by Norman Foster

London is one of our favorite capital cities. This is a small European New York with its city skyscrapers, for all the restaurants there is -no country is not represented-, for the master shops… London is a vibrant city we want to go to enjoy the Tate Museums, Galleries National, his theater… From his life. And in a city as extraordinary as the capital of England, there are also great hotels. We recently discovered a very special one designed by architect Norman Foster -and his studio Forsters + Partners- and located in the former BBC headquarters. A pure minimalist hotel.

The hotel is located a few meters from the London School of Economics and Covent Garden. Opposite some major theaters but also next to District Court, banks and some big tech companies. West End Full. A hotbed for judges and lawyers, entrepreneurs and tech sector employees -according to the explanation of ME London staff-. Where is the main ‘guest’ of this hotel guests from all over the world are also mixed in, attracted by lifestyle Europe. Because of that lifestyle, the way of traveling that exists in Europe that blends culture, modernity and recreation, that is what this hotel signed by Norman Foster represents. The room that stands out the most is the ME Suite, with its impressive dome and stunning views that make it one of the finest suites in all of London. When we went to find the hotel, unfortunately, it was occupied.

We’re talking ME London, whose brothers are in symbolic places like Ibiza and Los Cabos. They had the same essence but their appearance couldn’t be more different. In the case of ME London, appearance has a lot to do with the knowledge of the London-based architect and studio, which It has been inspired by the ying and yang philosophy. His spectacular pyramid-shaped reception was dyed in jet black. The projections change depending on the day, when we arrive for our visit, the image of Queen Elizabeth II reminds us that in London they are still mourning. The snake-shaped sofa – with spectacular leather – invites you to enjoy a glass champagne before serving. The rooms are very bright. White and minimalist colors are breathed in every room that is spread around this central pyramid.

Black and white, ying and yang, a play of light and geometry. This hotel has a bit of what it was when it was BBC headquarters. The floors that were previously crowded with journalists are now bustling with guests from all over the world. Of course, they both have something in common: great views of London. suites and penthouse they have 180 degree view from their room. Its strategically placed windows look like a vantage point into the void that even causes vertigo. The window is in the air. The hallmark of a great architect and his studio.

Finally, the architectural studio attaches great importance upstairs, where the Rooftop Radio is located. A place to enjoy the view of the British capital to the beat of the DJ -this is already a hotel addition-. Enjoying wine while viewing Big Ben, the Thames, the Shard and the surrounding buildings, as well as the buildings near Covent Garden… What an unforgettable sight. Pure light in everything facing out, and darkness and black in the heart of this building. A hotel that as soon as you enter … Leaves no one indifferent.
