“Ouch, happened again? Honey, oh dear. After all…”responded to the king, which the British media regarded as a kind of insult.
When consulted on this matter, the Secretary for Foreign Relations, James Cleverly, assured that Carlos III’s words were meant to be “emphatic statement”.
“When you say ‘baby, baby,’ This isn’t a message of support, is it?“A journalist from LBC.
“I thought you were trying to paint that as a political statement. I see it more as an empathetic statement for someone, for a leader of our country… (Carlos) realizes that all of us, and everyone in this country, are facing a very, very difficult winter,” Cleverly replied.
A scene straight from the Office.
Truss: “Your Majesty… Nice to see you again.”
King: “Back again. Darling oh dear. Formation de toda…”
Unintentional political awkwardness and comedy are at their best.
