In the United States, Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock debated Sunday with United States Senate candidate for the Libertarian Party Chase Oliver in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Beside the two men was an empty podium dedicated to Republican candidate Herschel Walker, Senator Warnock’s main challenger, who refused to participate in the debate. The incident comes two days after the Warnock-Walker fight that took place on Friday night in what is expected to be their only debate. Walker was forced to maintain his anti-abortion stance after his ex-girlfriend recently said the ex-footballer paid for her abortions in the past and then urged her to have another abortion, which she decided to go ahead with. Walker has denied the claims. In this context, Senator Warnock defended abortion rights against the landmark reversal of Roe v. Wade in 1973 where the Supreme Court ruled abortion legalization in the United States.
Senator Raphael Warnock: “The patient room is too cramped and small for a woman, her doctor, and the United States Government. We are witnessing now what happens when politicians, most of them men, crowd into patient rooms.”
Warnock and Walker also clashed over their positions in the police force, the expansion of Medicaid’s public health program, and who they supported as leaders of their respective parties.
