Airbnb announces that they will be expanding their coverage Translation Tool snapshot to include the review feature. In November 2021, the platform announced the adoption of this new technology that will allow Guests and Hosts to have live translations in over 60 languages to facilitate interaction during their stay and experience around the world.
This technology completely eliminates the need for buttons and clicks to translate, leveraging millions of Airbnb data points to automatically translate listing descriptions on Airbnb, becoming smarter and more sophisticated. Hosts can count on high-quality translations which not only eliminates the need for translations or quality checklist descriptions, but also allows them to reach Guests worldwide.
Billions of messages a year, now translated in real time
Following last year’s launch, the Translation Tool was expanded in the middle of this year to include messaging. This is a breakthrough given the sheer volume of messages on the platform every day: more than 1.3 billion in the 12 months leading up to June 30, 2022.[1], which roughly translates to over 3.5 million per day and over 40 per second. Messages are automatically translated into the user’s preferred language, making it easier for Hosts and Guests to interact and ask questions that lead to a better stay experience.

Millions of reviews available in every user’s preferred language
With the expansion of the Review Translation Tool, Guests searching for a place on Airbnb can now view past Guest reviews in their preferred language without having to click through each one, making the process easier and minimizing the hassle of bad interpretations. With the opening of international borders, the Translation Tool is a key tool to enable more Hosts to receive foreign Guests without having to face language barriers within the platform. Airbnb announced that during the first half of 2022[5], United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France and Germany, are the top 5 home countries Non-Spanish-speaking Guests with the most reservations on the platform in those countries. Regarding the origin of the Guest from the United States[6]those from the states of Florida, California, New York, Texas, and New Jersey, are among the top 5 visitors in the country.
