FRV acquires two battery energy storage projects in the UK for a total of 100 MW

Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has acquired two battery energy storage projects located in the Midlands region of Great Britain, totaling 100 megawatts (MW), the company, part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy, reported, without elaborating on the number of operations.

In particular, the portfolio has been acquired from RE Projects Development Limited (REPD), the UK’s leading developer of utility-scale solar and battery projects, responsible for conceptualizing and promoting the projects, each covering a total of 1.01 hectares. , and is expected to enter the ‘ready-to-build’ phase in the third quarter of 2023.

Tyler Hill Renewables, who pursued this opportunity for FRV, also collaborated on the project development process. It will consist of two lithium-ion battery storage systems with a combined total capacity of up to 100 MW, enabling grid-connected power to be imported and exported. Both projects followed a planning schedule to meet projected construction dates.

FRV added five more in battery storage in the operation, construction and development phases, totaling 340 MW. With the additional 1 gigawatt (GW) announced recently following the formation of FRV TH Powertek Limited, a joint venture between FRV and Tyler Hill Partners, this will create the largest BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) portfolio in the UK.
