UK government intends to build world’s largest drone highway

The project will receive nearly 300 million pounds sterling and will be ready by 2024

The UK will be home to the world’s largest automated drone superhighway in the next two years. Drones will be used in highway project of 164 miles connecting cities, including Cambridge and Rugby. The plans and projects are part of a £273 million funding package for the UK government’s aerospace sector.

This is not the only ongoing project of this type and depth. Other projects include drones delivering mail to the Isles of Scilly and medicine across Scotland.. Secretary of Business Secretary K. Kwarteng announced the news at the Farnborough International Airshow, the first to be held since 2019.

The Secretary has stated that the project “will help the sector take advantage of the huge growth opportunities that exist” as the world shifts to a cleaner form of aviationSkynet aims to connect the airspace of Reading, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Cambridge, Coventry and Rugby by mid-2024, and will receive over £12 million.
