Lima, 31 Oct (EFE).- The VI International Fair of Specialty Coffees 2022 (Ficafé), held in the Ayacucho region of Peru, achieved an economic movement of 56 million sol (approximately 14.3 million dollars), Minister of Foreign Affairs Trade and Tourism , Roberto Sánchez, reported this Monday.
The Minister of Finance pointed out that this is an “important figure who allows us to continue to promote development” of the region, as the exhibition was attended by 2,000 producers, 250 exhibition stands and 20,000 visitors, in addition to national and international business roundtables. .
“Today with Ficafé’s outstanding results, we reaffirm that only cooperation and cooperation is the path to solving this great disease of the country,” Sánchez said during the closing ceremony of the exhibition, which was held this Monday.
The minister added that, despite the “critical times, wars, fuel prices, fertilizers” being faced at the international level, his country “continues to grow and thrive.”
“We need a business community with a national perspective, which sees development. Today we congratulate all parties in this event, because they have been able to show that together we can overcome difficulties”, he said.
Sánchez highlighted that Peru is the world’s leading producer of organic coffee and also excels in the production of high-quality specialty coffee.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) explained that the International Business Roundtable was organized by the country’s promotion agency Promperú and closed transactions of $3.4 million over the next 12 months, with the help of buyers from the United States. , Canada, France, UK, Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
The national business conference organized by the Ministry of Production and the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) totaled 32.7 million soles (8.3 million dollars), while the projected sales for exhibitors reached 1,250,000 soles (about 320,500 dollars) and the “cup of excellence” ” auction of 3,200,000 soles (about $820,500), among others.
Mincetur specified that during the exhibition “specialty coffee is promoted, namely high-quality green coffee beans roasted to their full potential.”
“These are items that get a rating of 80 points or even more, on a scale of 100, given by professional tasters based on aroma, taste, personality, distinctive character and absence of defects,” he said.
This week, during the “Peru Cup of Excellence 2022” competition, Blanca Flor Córdova, from the province of San Jacinto, in the northern region of Cajamarca, was announced as the coffee grower with the best coffee in the country.
