If you’ve ever traveled to the UK, you’ll be surprised the first time you want to charge your phone (or any other device you carry), because outlets and plugs equipment in the country has a completely different design from yours.
There are several types of plugs in the world today, some more unusual than others. Although many countries claim to have the safest, the title goes to the famous Plug England, also considered the ugliest of all. Why?
Also known as a ‘type G plug’ it consists of three rectangular pins, two parallel located horizontally and a vertical (slightly longer) pin, which is the ground wire and located on top, in the middle of the two.
Despite its odd appearance, the British plug has several characteristics that make it very safe, to the point that it is used in other countries such as Ireland, Cyprus, Malta, Malaysia, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Singapore, Cambodia, Hong Kong and in the Persian Gulf countries.
Why is the UK plug so safe?
The outlet in the UK has three holes: the bottom two (which have power) are blocked when the object is not in use. In this way, naughty children are prevented from introducing objects and being electrocuted.
These holes will only open when the third pin (above it) enters the outlet. Therefore, it is slightly larger in size. Similarly, it should be noted that each switch has a button that allows or delays the current transmission.
