Twitter launches a monthly subscription of eight euros that includes a blue verification badge | Technology

Twitter has launched this Saturday a subscription service for its platform for 8 euros per month that includes a blue verification badge and is available in an updated version of the app for Apple devices. The company has communicated that those who “register now” can receive the coveted blue tick next to their username, “like celebrities, companies and politicians”.

Until recently, a blue tick next to a username meant that Twitter had confirmed that the account belonged to the person or company that claimed it. According to the iOS notification, other benefits in the update include “half the number of ads,” the ability to post longer videos to Twitter, and priority ranking for quality content.

Twitter said the new verified service will be available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. “As soon as we confirm it is working properly in the initial countries and complete the translation work, it will roll out worldwide,” Musk said in a tweet on Saturday.

However, according to a tweet from Twitter product executive Esther Crawford, the new Twitter Blue service is available, but not yet launched. “It run fast towards our release continues. Some users may see the updates we are testing and pushing in real time,” he wrote in a tweet.

The new head of Twitter, Elon Musk, announced a new subscription service earlier this week as part of its efforts to monetize the social network and make it less dependent on advertising. Twitter is currently a free service for most users.
