At the launch, the British ambassador, George Hodgson, said: “I am delighted to be able to say goodbye to the first Colombian to travel to the UK without the need for a visitor visa. We hope that this change will create more opportunities to enjoy the great offer from the UK, both in the fields of tourism and business, culture, sport and of course to strengthen the bonds between our two peoples, especially Colombia and the families who live there. Avianca’s direct flights make the UK even more accessible. Hopefully the increased interest from travelers will allow more direct flights to open!

With this important milestone, different airlines extend their weekly frequency to this destination. For example, Avianca offers 2 routes with a frequency of 14 times a week, so that from both countries of origin, foreign tourists can enjoy tours in both countries without restrictions.

We applaud the decision announced by the governments of both countries. As the only airline connecting Colombia with the UK and passengers flying from Peru, we are very optimistic about the future of this route. As we have announced, we will work closely with Heathrow airport and various authorities in the UK to increase our presence and capacity between Bogotá and London during 2023. From Avianca we will continue to contribute to strengthening relations between countries, as well as tourism and business.”, said Felipe Andrés Gómez, Avianca’s Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability.
