The UK will test contingency plans in the event of a power outage. Supply fears are rising
The UK government will test contingency plans in the face of a potential blackout, or power outage, as supply concerns increase this winter. According to The Guardian, authorities have the Yarrow Program in place to deal with disruptions of up to a week.
The documents accessible to British newspapers show how in a worst-case scenario, all sectors, including transport, food and water supply, communications and energy, could be “seriously disrupted” for a week. In this scenario, ministers would prioritize the delivery of food, water and shelter for young and elderly people, as well as those with care responsibilities, should the country experience a power outage.
