The UK government will implement more sophisticated scanners to remove airport security restrictions on liquids and electronic devices.
This high-tech 3D scanner will be operational in mid-2024 and its goal is to reduce passenger queues during controls.
The equipment, similar to the CT scanners used in hospitals, gives a clearer picture of the contents of a bag.
The Times newspaper reported that the government is conducting a review and an announcement is expected before Christmas, in hopes of reducing queues at UK airports.
Currently, passengers carrying liquids in hand luggage must do so in one transparent plastic bag that does not exceed 100 milliliters.

The bag that must be shown to security must measure approximately 20 centimeters by 20 centimeters.
The limits have been in place since November 2006, when British police thwarted plans to blow up up to 10 planes using explosives hidden in drink bottles.
New airport technology will allow staff to enlarge bag contents and rotate images for inspection, helping prevent flight delays.
