Peru.- The Peruvian judiciary authorizes Keiko Fujimori’s trip to Spain and England

MADRID, November 30 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Peruvian judiciary has revoked a Fourth Organized Crime Preparatory Court of Investigation resolution against Keiko Fujimori, which allowed the former presidential candidate to travel to England and Spain.

This was reported by the National Superior Court of Specialized Criminal Justice (CSNJPE) via its Twitter account, detailing that Fujimori would visit the two countries from November 30 to December 9.

Meanwhile, the court has ordered that, before leaving the country, Fujimori must submit his detailed itinerary to the Preparatory Investigative Court (JIP), with warnings in case of non-compliance with the rules of conduct, it reported. Agent.

“The referee deemed the travel authorization request valid because appearance with the restrictions imposed on Fujimori did not prove a flight risk existed, and there was no procedural activity requiring his personal participation,” CSNJPE said.

The judicial resolution specified that Fujimori’s trip fulfilled two invitations. The first, by the Oxford Union Society, to give a speech and participate in a round of questions and answers at the entity, in the city of Oxford from 30 November to 5 December.

Meanwhile, the second trip the Popular Fuerza policymaker will make is to Madrid, where he will be invited by the World Law Foundation to see its headquarters in the city, from December 5 to 9.

Fujimori remained in jail for thirteen months because of charges against him of illegally financing his political formation in the 2011 and 2016 election campaigns through Brazilian construction company Odebrecht in exchange for favors and public contracts. Finally, a ‘habeas corpus’ application which was approved by the Constitutional Court (TC) allowed him to be released from prison in late November 2019.

The Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Peru has declared an appeal filed a posteriori by the Office of the Prosecutor to annul the resolution canceling the imprisonment of the former presidential candidate.
