Eni is considering buying Neptune Energy for up to 5,700 million

MADRID, December 1 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Italian oil company Eni is studying a bid for British Neptune Energy between 5,000 and 6,000 million dollars (4,770 and 5,724 million euros), as published by the London newspaper ‘Financial Times’, citing sources familiar with the operation.

Neptune is not publicly traded. Its largest shareholder is China through the fund China Investment Corporation, which owns 49 percent of the company. The other two shareholders are the Carlyle fund, with 30.6 percent, and the CVC fund, with 20.4 percent.

The company, founded in 2015, closed 2021 with a net profit of 387.2 million dollars (368.5 million euros), compared with a loss of 399 million (379.8 million euros) the previous year. On the other hand, turnover grew by 59.6 percent to 2,490.1 million (2,370.1 million euros).

The company’s production last year reached 130,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. 63 percent of its production is natural gas, while another 11 percent is liquefied natural gas and the remaining 26 percent is oil and its derivatives. It operates in Norway, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia and Australia.

According to the British newspaper, Eni’s offer does not include any offshore oil or gas projects in Germany.
