Telework 110 days every year? The ECB allows its staff to work from home

Telecommuting for 110 days a year from January 2023? The employees from European Central Bank will have the opportunity to work home for 110 days a year, about 50% of the time, according to what a spokesperson for the monetary entity told Efe.

“Employees can telework up to 10 days a month and a maximum of 10 consecutive days. 80% of remote work can be done from EU countries,” the spokesperson added. The same goes for the UK, for staff who join the ECB before 31 December 2020.

The new employment policy is the result of “extensive benchmarking exercises, hybrid pilot projects in 2022, employee surveys, and several rounds of consultations with representatives ECB and will be reviewed within two years”the spokesperson added.

The ECB is also consulting with its workers’ representatives on the next pay increase, which will be the highest. Since its founding in 1999, the ECB has raised the salaries of its employees in a manner similar to other comparable European institutions such as the European Central Bank. The European Commission or the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), among others.
