The government of Daniel Ortega, in Nicaragua, has decided to withdraw the ambassadors appointed to Colombia and Peru from their duties for unknown reasons.
In a statement from the Official Gazette, the appointments of Marcela Pérez, who has served as diplomatic representative of Nicaragua to Peru since June this year, and Gadiel Arce, who has headed the Embassy in Colombia since September, were cancelled.

Similarly, Milagros Urbina was appointed as minister counselor with consular functions for the Colombian Embassy, while Arce will assume the same function in Peru.
Earlier, Colombian President Gustavo Petro stated that he had a dispute, a “lawsuit” with Ortega for holding those involved in the 1979 Sandinista revolution in prison. “I asked that they release Dora María Téllez, […] fundamental in the revolution”, he stressed.

In September this year, the Government of Nicaragua requested the departure of the European Union (EU) ambassador in Nicaragua, Bettina Muscheidt, without knowing the reasons for this action.
For its part, the EU declared Nicaragua’s representation persona non grata, in retaliation for the expulsion of bloc envoys in Managua, according to a brief official statement.
Last October, President Ortega announced in an official act that his government did not wish to pursue relations with the Netherlands, which he called “intervention” and “disrespectful”.
Ortega was responding to a visit by the Dutch ambassador to Central America, Christine Pirenne, who arrived in Managua from Costa Rica, where they live, to report that they would not pay for the construction of the hospital, according to the president.
