The move is likely to complement the effort Amazons AMZN.O to double sports programming on its Prime Video service, the main channel for attracting consumers to its shopping platform.
They already have NFL and Premier League licenses
Amazon already owns the rights to broadcast games such as the National Football League (NFL) Thursday Night Football franchise and Premier League football games in the United Kingdom, allowing it to better compete with sports broadcasting leader Walt Disney Co.
Last week, Alphabet Inc’s GOOGL.O YouTube unit also signed a multi-year deal to exclusively broadcast the NFL’s Sunday Ticket game bundle in the United States.

It’s unclear when Amazon will launch its sports app and whether it will go ahead with the plan, according to the report.
Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
The company has reviewed unprofitable business units and laid off some staff to make up for rising costs and slumping demand as inflation-worried consumers and businesses spend less.
