Toyota is already producing its fifth-generation hybrid engine in Europe

The fifth generation of the hybrid powertrain in parallel from Toyota which in some markets will use the Prius combined with a 1.8 or 2 liter engine, sand will be produced in Europe.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) and Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK (TMUK) will manufacture the hybrid powertrain for the Corolla which will be assembled, in addition to TMUK, at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Turkey (TMMT).

To make this possible, seven production lines have been updated with a investment of 77 million for the factory in Poland and 541,000 euros for the factory in England.

TMMP also manufactures hybrid electric transmissions, including two electric motors – a starter-generator motor and a main motor that drives the wheels. It will be mated to a new British-made 1.8 liter petrol engine which, after modification, is lighter and more compact, has more power and better performance. In total, the hybrid propulsion system with this 1.8 as a combustion engine reaches 140 CV, which allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, which is a reduction of 1.7 seconds compared to the fourth generation Corolla. until this year. The Corolla 200 H version will do 194 CV. This fourth generation of THS (Toyota Hybrid System) has been produced since 2016 and 2018, in the UK and Poland respectively.

Currently, electric hybrid technology accounts for 70 percent of engines and transmissions made in Poland and 85 percent of those produced in England.
