A transport strike throws Britain into chaos as Christmas returns

the fourth day of the strike rail sector in great Britain. Rail services remain paralyzed by protests across most of the country after continuing the strike by a further 48 hours.

About 40,000 workers are affiliated with trade unions RMT supports strike day four this week. That joins others made last year to demand pay increases and oppose layoffs. The railway sector is demanding a 7% pay increase.

This week counts as worst rail disruption in over 30 yearswhen Christmas and thousands of residents traveled to return to their homes. They recommend avoiding traveling by train, as one in five is work and on a journey that used to take an hour now takes four or five.

“The fact that we are currently on strike in so many sectors is a reflection of the situation of dissatisfaction and the political situation,” said a Spaniard in Britain.

Meeting with government representatives

After a period of inertia, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has authorized a sectoral meeting rounds with government representatives next Monday. He also announced legislative changes to limit the impact of future strikes.

Several union leaders have expressed it distrust on the intention of the Executive in this Monday’s appointment. They fear the meeting will partly be to unveil their controversial bill, which will soon kick off the parliamentary process.

The government intends to impose minimal service fee in sectors such as rail, ambulance and fire services.
