BRUSSELS, January 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Moldova will hold its second meeting of leaders of the European Political Community on June 1, confirmed the spokesman for the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, a co-promoter with French President Emmanuel Macron of the initiative to maintain political and security dialogue among all the countries of the European continent .
The venue was announced at the forum’s first summit last October in the Czech Republic, when participants agreed that Moldova, Spain and the United Kingdom would host, in that order, the next meeting of the European Political Community scheduled every six months. . .
This new format of intergovernmental dialogue without a fixed structure aims to strengthen peace and security on the continent and strengthen alliances on key issues such as energy. The first meeting in Prague was a success as it brought together leaders from 40 countries which displayed an image of unity in Europe with Russia over its military aggression against Ukraine and proved Moscow’s international isolation.
So the aim is to consolidate the project and continue it with an upcoming calendar of summits ensuring that progress is made in the commitment to strengthening cooperation between Europe.
The President of Moldova, Maria Sandu, thanked her country for choosing to host its next meeting in Chisinau, in a gesture with neighboring Ukraine, which accepted candidate status to join the EU from June 27 last month, at the same time as kyiv.
