The eurozone presented a trade deficit of 11,700 million in November

International trade in goods in the Eurozone with other countries in the world is recorded a a deficit of 11.7 billion euros in November compared with the same month a year earlier, while across the European Union (EU) the deficit was 20,700 million, the community statistics office Eurostat reported this Friday.

Exports from the eurozone in November were 264.7 billion euros, that is representing a 17.2% increase in year-over-year calculations, while imports totaled 276,300 million, representing a down payment of 20.2%. In November 2021, the eurozone recorded a deficit of 3.9 billion euros.

Exchanges between the 19 countries that share the single currency totaled 241.5 billion euros, 16.8% more than in November the previous year. Between January and November, trade in goods in the euro area recorded a a deficit of 305.100 million euroscompared to the surplus of 125,000 million achieved in the same period the previous year.

In the first eleven months of this year, exports of goods from the Eurozone to the rest of the world totaled 2.638 million euros, while imports were valued at 2.943 million, which means an increase of 18.9 and 40.5%, respectively.

Between countries with a single currency, goods exchange totaled 2,506 million euros, 25.5% more than in the January to November 2021 period. For its part, the EU as a whole recorded a deficit of 20,700 million euros in November. Exports of goods from the EU rose to 237,300 million euros (17.7% more) and imports to 258,000 million (21.5% more).

The EU’s overall trade deficit a year earlier, in November 2021, was 10.7 billion euros. Regarding intra-community trade, the exchange of goods amounted to 370,300 million euros, which implies a year-on-year increase of 16.1%.

Exports of goods from the EU between January and November 2022 increased by 18.7% to 2.352 million euros and imports, 44.8%, to 2.777 million. As a result, community blocks recorded in those eleven months a trade deficit of 418,400 million euroscompared to the surplus of 69,500 million registered from January to November 2021.
