United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the UK signed this Friday Abu Dhabi Memorandum of Understanding to exchange information and knowledge to advance energy sector and sustainable development.
The memorandum aims to “enhance strategic and technical cooperation in the developing energy sector technology from renewable energy, including the regulatory framework and incentives,” said the official Emirati news agency, WAM.
This document also discusses “their cooperation in the field peaceful nuclear power and related policies and technologies, the hydrogen low carbon, exchange of information, knowledge and experience, administration high level meeting to discuss and consider mutually beneficial issues, strengthen collaboration on clean and renewable energy”, among others.
The signing ceremony was attended by the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohamed al-Mazrouei, and British Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Schapps grantbesides other officials from both countries.
The UAE minister explained that this memorandum was “very urgent in the light of interest general both countries, for helping them implement energy policies that will provide a low-carbon, safe and sustainable energy supply affordable prices.
He emphasized that both countries realized the importance of the need to improve efficiencyfor energetic and decarbonization its components, as well as the need to develop renewable energy technologies to help achieve a zero emission level carbon by 2050.
Al Mazrouei further highlighted the important role that the UAE and UK played in laying the groundwork basis of action for the climate, as the UAE prepares to host the Climate Summit in Dubai COP28 and England hosted COP26 two years ago.
