Microsoft will consider cutting 5% of its workforce

Technology giant Microsoft Corp. believed to be considering laying off thousands of employees amid the global economic slowdown.

According to a report published by Sky News, Microsoft is considering reducing its workforce by around 5%, that is, up to 11,000 people.

The announcement can be made ahead of Microsoft’s fourth quarter results and the next benefits conference is taking place in a week.

Microsoft denied to the news channel that they had taken an official position on the reports.

If officially announced, the US tech giant will join the other big tech companies they have confirmed the dismissal of thousands of people in the last few weeks.

For example, the e-commerce giant Amazon announced it would eliminate “more than 18,000” jobsincluding some in Europe, in another sign of the tech sector’s predicament in the United States.

Too, Meta, the parent of the social network Facebook, announced the dismissal of 11,000 people, 13% of his army. Also online payment service specialist Stripe and driver-driving vehicle platform Lyft are making significant cuts.
