Metso Outotec to move production of screening equipment from the US to Mexico

Helsinki-based Metso Outotec will move production of its screening equipment from the US to Mexico as part of a reorganization in North and Central America to develop its global supply chain.

“The company is investing in a new screening media production capacity in Irapuato, Mexico, to significantly increase supply and delivery capabilities to mining and aggregates customers in the region,” Metso Outotec said in a statement.

Asked by BNamericas about the investment in the new facility, the company did not immediately respond.

Metso Outotec added that as part of its reorganization, it has decided to discontinue its screening media operations in Warrenton, Missouri.

According to the company, the new plant in Mexico will start operating gradually in the first half of 2023. “After being fully operational in the third quarter, total production capacity will double in 2024 from current levels,” it added. .

“We will serve customers with shorter lead times and faster deliveries by utilizing production sites that are optimized for screen media products. The new plant, located near our rubber and Polymet factories in Irapuato, further strengthens Mexico’s position as a center of competence for producing high quality products. -quality consumables,” says consumables business area president, Heikki Metsälä.

In 2022, Metso Outotec announced that it will invest in the installation of its first polymer filter plate production unit in Mexico.

Production of screening equipment at Warrenton will be discontinued until the end of 2023, the company said.
