A leading provider of climate technology solutions, today released its Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory for fiscal year 2021-22 (April 2021 to March 2022), announcing the implementation of compensation measures. The GHG Inventory Report covers the global business activity of all your workers, for all your staff, interns and consultants, including the UK, Spain, Malaysia and India.
Under the GHG Protocol, the CCD can only quantify Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. A company’s Scope 2 emissions from electricity purchased in a rented office are estimated to be over 1 tonne of CO2 equivalent. Scope 3 emissions, which include activities such as business travel, use of cloud servers in customer domains, transmission and distribution losses, and working from home, were calculated as 141,179 tCO2e. It should be noted that work-from-home emissions are an important part of Scope 3.
To offset these emissions, CCD has purchased quality offsets from a mix of Verra-registered renewable (VCU-1946) and nature-based (VCU-1477) projects. CCD recognizes that offsetting is not a long-term solution, but an effective short-term step towards global emission reduction targets. The company is committed to finding new ways to reduce its carbon footprint and is doing everything possible to implement them quickly.
The Emissions Assessment and Offsetting Disclosure Report has been prepared in accordance with the methodology of the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standards and the Indian GHG Program. Emission data has been verified by external auditor TUV India Pvt. Ltd (see TUV report here).
Nitin Tanwar, company founder and Head of Ecosystems, comments from London: “Carbon accounting is the first step in achieving the goal of net zero emissions. The work-from-home policies sparked by the pandemic have significantly changed our Scope 3 emissions mix. As a global net-zero service provider, we recognize the complexities of managing carbon data and attach great importance to data integrity. For this reason, we have chosen to verify our emissions through external auditors, although we have no obligation to do so.
