Matamoros, Tamaulipas.- With the aim of demonstrating the strength of Tamaulipas’ logistics infrastructure, Secretary for Economic Development, Ninfa Cantú Deándar and chair of the Energy Commission, José Ramón Silva Arizabalo, received the British Ambassador in Matamoros in Mexico, Your Excellency. Mr. Jon Benjamin with whom they toured the Puerto del Norte facility.
During the visit, officials highlighted the unprecedented efforts of the government of Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, to promote and strengthen the competitiveness of port facilities for industrial development.
Ninfa Cantú Deándar recognized the passion and willingness of the British government to promote greater commercial and business integration, and stressed the coordination of the Federal Government with States and municipalities, to continue to expand its infrastructure and provide all facilities for the arrival of companies .
Deputy Minister Tomás Gloria Requena also participated in this meeting, representing the Secretary General of the Government, Héctor Joel Villegas González.
In its social network, the British embassy in Mexico indicated that Tamaulipas was a natural entry point for trade with the United Kingdom, due to its location at the easternmost tip of the country.
During the ambassador’s visit, issues related to investment opportunities in various sectors of the country’s economy and the potential represented by Puerto del Norte were also discussed, within the framework of TMEC and the global industrial relocation trend known as Nearshoring.
The United Kingdom is the 8th most invested country in Mexico and the 2nd most invested country in Tamaulipas in 2022. Last year, the company’s investment in the United Kingdom was 354 million dollars, the highest investment figure in history. this country in the states.
