Following his participation on Friday, February 24, at the United Nations Security Council, in New York, United States, one year after Russia’s military intervention in Ukraine, Juan Carlos Holguín, head of Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Relations and Human Mobility, met this Saturday with several international ministers.
Through her social networks, Holguín shares pictures of their meetings and briefly refers to the issues they discuss at each meeting.
In his most recent publication, he published about his encounter with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
Ecuadorian officials said the country’s commitment to Ecuador in the fight against organized crime was maintained and they were also discussing the process of possibly waiving a visa to the UK. “We are making up for lost time,” says Holguín.
Before meeting Clever, the foreign minister met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kulebawho said that they focused on ways of developing bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as strengthening relations with Latin American countries.
Instead, on this Saturday morning, Holguín held meetings with Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.
The foreign minister said during the meeting they were reviewing progress on bilateral issues between Ecuador and the European Union.
Holguín also informed that on Monday, February 27, he will visit Ecuador European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johanssonwith whom they will discuss security and urgent matters European Union Committee on Civil Liberties for exemption from Schengen visa for Ecuadorian citizens.
Ecuador is one of the few countries in Latin America where citizens still have to request this document to visit the Schengen area. (YO)
