The 2022 edition of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships is being held in Trento, Italy this weekend. It starts at just over 19.6 km, which is a flat and fast course.
Sonja Moi became the current world champion in the Women’s 40-44 year category. She won her class by 52 seconds from three-time world champion Cecilia Hansen of Sweden, while Poland’s Anna Rzasowska was three seconds behind the Swede. Sonja ran the fastest time in the women’s class and was the only one under 28 minutes with an average time of 52.76 km per hour. He drives for Stavanger SK here at home and has Stein Ørn as his coach.
Yngvar Alexander Hansen of Norway and Mosjøen OCK contested for the bronze medal in the men’s 50-54 sprint class, and were only 23 hundredths short of the silver medal won by Staffan Sandberg of Sweden. Richard Oakes of Great Britain became world champion. Gunnar Fjellberg of Hobøl IL Cycling in the Men’s class 75-79 also finished 3rd in Italy for speed.

Kristin Lucie Falck was 5th in the class 50-54
Elin Grønvik was 4th in class 55-59
Espen Helgesen is 5th in class 19-34
Torbjørn Enger placed 5th in a class of 45-49
Frank Aadland was 4th in the class 65-69
Hans-Jørgen Breder placed 8th in the class 70-74
There were no Norwegian medals in the joint start.
