The Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom will cooperate on defense and security

Santo Domingo, March 16 (Prensa Latina) The Dominican Republic and the United Kingdom today signed a Declaration of Intention for cooperation in defence, security and crisis management in the capital city.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the document was signed by the Dominican Foreign Minister, Roberto Álvarez, and the British ambassador to the country, Mockbul Ali.

The information states that in the first phase, the agreement envisages that the Dominican Government will acquire four AgustaWestland next-generation (AW169) helicopters, which are used to enhance the national aviation capacity, security work, and disaster protection.

Likewise, the exchange of good practices and knowledge in these fields is foreseen; as well as the preparation of programs, projects and special actions to promote peace, international security, respect for human rights, sustainable development and strengthening democracy.

In the event, Álvarez stated: “it is no coincidence to say that this agreement comes at an important moment in terms of the security and defense of our country, because the current reality shows this, a state in which only together we can progress properly and prosper. , leaving no one behind.”

Meanwhile, Ali stated that “we signed an agreement in

The two countries designated the entity responsible for the operations and coordination of the British Embassy and the Dominican Ministry of Defence.
